Distribution and abundance of heavy metals in finfish, invertebrates and sediments collected at a deep-water disposal site

The concentrations of nine heavy metals were determined in four species of deep-water demersal fish, and in the red crab, Geryon quinqueden r. Data are also given for three species of pelagic fish captured in a deep-water disposal area for toxic industrial wastes . Sediments collected from benthic sampling stations in or near the disposal site were also analysed for heavy metals. Muscle tissue of deep-water fish contained less metal than that of coastal fish, and the latter had higher metal levels in their liver tissues.
