Potential of 1D Kerr-nonlinear resonators for all-optical phase shifting

We study the principle of Kerr-nonlinear phase shifting analytically for 1D resonating structures. Excellent agreement with numerical simulations is obtained. Optimal design parameters are presented for several signal bandwidths (2, 10, 40 and 100 GHz) and we show that a trade-off between input inte...

Zusammenfassung:We study the principle of Kerr-nonlinear phase shifting analytically for 1D resonating structures. Excellent agreement with numerical simulations is obtained. Optimal design parameters are presented for several signal bandwidths (2, 10, 40 and 100 GHz) and we show that a trade-off between input intensity, device length and signal bandwidth is to be made.
