Zusammenfassung: | Obstetricians and gynaecologists are disproportionately affected by hospital-acquired Lassa infections due to the disease's resemblance to obstetric emergencies. The patient, who was at term in her first pregnancy, had been referred from a rural hospital to a specialist private hospital in Ekpoma on account of antepartum haemorrhage and episodes of seizure, with urinalysis showing clinically significant proteinuria. The psychological effect of the disease became evident immediately following my diagnosis, with my fears of mortality and morbidities compounded by my knowledge of ribavirin toxicity and the risk of deafness. |
