Zusammenfassung:Poor deformability is one of the disadvantages in magnesium. However, the present authors have shown that high purity magnesium can be cold-rolled at room temperature with 80 % in reduction without cracking. Recrystallization occurs in the cold-rolled specimen. The specimens were prepared by vapor deposition technique. In the deposition technique, 3N-Mg is vaporized in vacuum and deposited on a graphite plate to be obtained high purity magnesium film. Electron backscattered patterns showed that the film had a texture of basal plane inclined with about 35 degree from the normal of the film surface. Many non-basal dislocations were observed in the cold-rolled specimen. Magnesium would intrinsically possess good deformability, but impurities deterioratively affect the property. (Substrate materials: AZ31 magnesium alloy, graphite.)
