Zusammenfassung: | The mold flux protects the steel from reoxidation by air, lubricates the steel shell as it passes through the mold, and aides in the transfer of heat from the solidifying steel shell to the mold. In these ways, it assists the continuous casting of steel and significantly reducing defects in iron castings. The role of the mold flux has become more and more critical according to the higher productivity. There are many key factors in the successful performance of mold flux. These are viscosity, consumption rate, thickness of molten flux layer, melting point, solidifying point, precipitation phenomena and so on. Due to these important roles of mold flux, many research works were carried out to understand their properties, such as heat conductivity, viscosity and precipitation behavior. |
