Zusammenfassung:Crystallization of m-xylylene dicyanide (C10H8N2) with AgClO4 from methanol solution at −10 °C affords columnar colorless crystals of [Ag(C10H8N2)ClO4]n with high yield. The compound structure was confirmed by X-ray crystallography, indicating that its structure features the characteristics of the helical infinite chain along b axis. The 1H NMR and IR spectrum shows that multiplet can be indexed to the proton peaks and the ν(Ph–H) and ν(C–H) bands of the m-xylylene dicyanide, respectively. Furthermore, the stability behavior of the [Ag(C10H8N2)ClO4]n is investigated to present that the tiled compound is stable at below 250 °C.
