Zusammenfassung:W-band source research at Los Alamos is focused on developing a high peak and average power, wideband traveling-wave tube, based on the interaction of a sheet electron beam with a planar slow-wave structure. We report on progress on the formation and transport of high-aspect ratio sheet beams, the rf structure design, a low-power gain demonstration experiment, and future advanced concepts including use of a photonic band gap structure as the slow-wave structure.
