Zusammenfassung: | Emphasis of this paper is given to the modal characteristics of a brake rotor which is utilized in automotive disc brake system. The brake rotor is modeled as a combined structure comprising an annular plate connected to a segment of cylindrical shell by distributed artificial springs. Modal analysis shows the existence of three types of modes for the combined structure, depending on the involvement of each substructure. A decomposition technique is proposed, allowing each mode of the combined structure to be decomposed into a linear combination of the individual substructure modes. It is shown that the decomposition coefficients provide a direct and systematic means to carry out modal classification and quantification. |
