•Ventriculoperitoneal shunting is a common neurosurgical procedure.•Common complication are infection, obstruction and, disconnection.•Cardiac migration from peritoneal cavity had been rarely reported.•It may happen by an unnoticed venous injury that “aspirated” the catheter.
