Zusammenfassung: | Flood control for the California Central Valley is a critical infrastructure concern for the state and the entire nation. An interconnected system of dams, weirs, bypasses and earthen levees, some more than 100 years old, provides the state's flood control. Many of these levees were built by farmers with light equipment using local, uncompacted, clean river sands and little to no foundation preparation, or by contractors with clamshell dredges who excavated river and slough materials by the bucket load. |
