Zusammenfassung:Y-box–binding protein 1 is a well-described and important regulator of gene transcription, which is linked to various pathologic conditions, including inflammation and fibrosis of the kidney. The identification of a novel and protective crosstalk pathway between podocytes and tubular cells in the kidney with Y-box–binding protein 1 acting as a paracrine messenger sheds new light and provides novel opportunities for renoprotection.
