Zusammenfassung: | The weak ferromagnetic (WFM) transition observed in ErNi2B2C is believed to be of 2nd order because a corresponding anomaly is observed in the temperature dependence of the specific heat. Our detailed neutron diffraction measurements reveal, however, that the temperature dependence of the WFM order parameter shows a clear hysteresis near the WFM transition temperature, indicating that a 1st order process may also be involved in this transition. |
