Authors response: "Etomidate as an induction agent for endotracheal intubation in critically ill patients: A meta-analysis of randomized trials"

To explore the effects of different models on the pooled mortality data, we have now performed a Mantel-Haenszel random-effects meta-analysis for the primary outcome, which found a risk ratio of 1.14 (95% confidence interval, 0.99 to 1.31). Zusammenfassung:To explore the effects of different models on the pooled mortality data, we have now performed a Mantel-Haenszel random-effects meta-analysis for the primary outcome, which found a risk ratio of 1.14 (95% confidence interval, 0.99 to 1.31). [2], the largest one on this research topic so far, reported a significant increase in 7-day mortality (their primary outcome) and non-significant mortality difference at day 28. Considering the inherent hypothesis-generating nature of meta-analyses, our meta-analysis should be interpreted within this framework. [...]results from definitive trials are published, the choice of induction agents remains at the discretion of individual clinicians, who must judiciously weigh the advantages and drawbacks of each drug, with the best evidence on this topic coming from our meta-analyses.Ethics approval and consent to participate Not applicable.Consent for publication Not applicable.Authors' contribution YK, SF, ST, TCL, and GL wrote the manuscript, provided crucial revisions, and approved the final manuscript.Funding This manuscript did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not- for-profit sectors.Declaration of Competing Interest The authors declare that they have no competing interests.Acknowledgments Not applicable.
