Health Care Workers and War in the Middle East—Reply

Wynia responds to a discussions among colleagues that his viewpoint generated. Their discussion suggests that his viewpoint became a Rorschach test for those who believe that there "should not" be differing opinions on the ethics of Israel's approach to this war. But, in fact, he can attest that there are, and Israel's defenders and critics are equally convinced they hold the moral high ground. This is why his primary aim was to call out some aspects of this war on which virtually all health professionals might agree. Namely, their obligations to denounce antisemitism and racism of all types, to model working together, to care for all without prejudice, and to condemn war crimes of a medical nature, including both illegal use of and attacks on health care facilities.
