Guided propagation of naturally occurring infrasound in the troposphere and stratosphere
Understanding microbarom observations requires a quantitative description of diffracted arrivals which are not predicted by ray theory. A simple and efficient wave description of diffracted arrivals propagating in the troposphere and stratosphere is proposed. It is found that under certain condition...

Zusammenfassung: | Understanding microbarom observations requires a quantitative description of diffracted arrivals which are not predicted by ray theory. A simple and efficient wave description of diffracted arrivals propagating in the troposphere and stratosphere is proposed. It is found that under certain conditions the diffracted arrivals can account for a considerable portion of the total infrasonic energy transmitted from a source on the ocean surface. |
