Zusammenfassung:MeCP2 is an epigenetic factor with global impact in epigenome integrity, membrane-less nuclear architecture, and chromatin stability. Our Editorial covers recent advances on these important topics. MeCP2 binding to unmethylated DNA may prevent DNA methyl transferases (DNMT) binding to DNA, inhibiting 5-methylcytosine (5mC) formation. MeCP2 binding to 5mC can prevent ten-eleven translocation (TET) binding and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) formation. Figure created with BioRender.com with our own design.
