Special Features of Plotting and Using DGS Diagrams of Normal Probes for Tuning the Sensitivity of Flaw Detectors during the Ultrasonic Inspection of Articles Made from Aluminum Alloys

The possibility of plotting DGS diagrams for articles made from aluminum alloys is considered in the case of using the system initially intended to plot DGS diagrams of steel articles. The difference in double-transmission coefficients of longitudinal waves that pass through the inspected surfaces of aluminum and steel articles (in emission and reception) is established and the necessity of taking this parameter into account when plotting and using DGS diagrams is discussed. A computed diagram for an aluminum article is compared with the experimental results.
