Reactive plasma sprayed TiN coating and its tribological properties

Zusammenfassung: | In the present study, the titanium nitride coating with a thickness of over 500
μm was prepared via reactive plasma spraying (denoted as RPS). The tribological properties of the TiN coating under non-lubricated condition were studied, and were compared with that of the AISI M2 high-speed steel. The results shown that the RPS TiN coating was superior to the high-speed steel in wear resistance under non-lubricated condition. The volumetric wear loss of the TiN coating was two-fifths of that for the M2 steel at load of 1470
N; while the friction coefficient (FC) of the M2 steel was about 18.5 times of the TiN coating at load of 1470
