The effect of vertical head field component on the switching of thin metallic film

Magnetometric measurements indicate that when the magnetization of cobalt films is reversed by the application of fields at angles greater than grazing incidence, switching occurs when the field component H s in the film plane is less than the coercivity H c Curves of H s versus the vertical field c...

Zusammenfassung:Magnetometric measurements indicate that when the magnetization of cobalt films is reversed by the application of fields at angles greater than grazing incidence, switching occurs when the field component H s in the film plane is less than the coercivity H c Curves of H s versus the vertical field component H y are shown for cobalt tapes and Co-P films. This effect has been shown to influence the writing process and could be used to facilitate the switching of the high coercivity films necessary for high packing density systems.
