Fully compatible EDTV for improving both Y and color signals by using a single new subcarrier
An enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) is discussed in which the resolution of a Y signal is extended both horizontally and vertically. Horizontal extension is a achieved by inserting the information into the so-called Fukinuki hole, and vertical extension by progressive interlace scan conversion. The res...

Zusammenfassung: | An enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) is discussed in which the resolution of a Y signal is extended both horizontally and vertically. Horizontal extension is a achieved by inserting the information into the so-called Fukinuki hole, and vertical extension by progressive interlace scan conversion. The resulting improvement in color signals is studied and a scheme for extending the bandwidth of a Q signal appropriate to the proposed EDTV system is proposed. The relationship between various methods of extension is clarified.< > |
