Zusammenfassung:Synthetic jet actuators show great promise as active flow control devices. Here, we analyze hot-wire anemometry data obtained along the centre-line of a synthetic jet flow. The value of the Kolmogorov length-scale is estimated from the experimental data, and it is seen to increase with distance away from the orifice. The results suggest that previously used computational meshes may need to be refined, particularly in the near orifice region, if we wish to capture down to the smallest dissipative scales. Finally, wavelet transforms are applied to the data, which allows the identification of the length-scales for which energy fluctuations and intermittency are important.
