Opportunity for significant reduction in risk of major adverse cardiac events with screening for cardiovascular disease risk factors in hidradenitis suppurativa

Zusammenfassung: | Patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have a high prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors and are at increased risk of major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Routine screening for risk factors is recommended but the benefit of this in risk reduction has not been evaluated. In this study of 117 patients attending hospital-based services for HS, there was a high burden of undiagnosed cardiovascular disease risk factors. Risk factor optimization significantly reduced 10-year risk of MACE. |
