Zusammenfassung:A linear eddy current brake (ECB) for the modern high speed train ICE has been developed. The DC excitation is mounted on the train, the secondary part is the rail itself. Braking and attracting forces are calculated for different train speeds and excitation currents with the finite element program package MEGA. Numerical results are compared with measurements.
