Zusammenfassung: | We have investigated the formation evolution and breaking of a gold nanowire using molecular dynamics simulation. Results reproduce many features observed experimentally. Suspended gold nanowires have recently been produced in an ultra-high vacuum and were imaged by electron microscopy. Here we simulate gold nanowires under stress. In particular, we discuss the mechanisms of formation, evolution and breaking of these atomically thin Au nanowires. |
