Zusammenfassung:In this paper, the scattering and reception properties of cylindrical dipole antennas are examined using the method of auxiliary sources (MAS), which is applied by introducing fictitious sources inside the dipole for the direct description of the scattered electromagnetic (EM) field due to an arbitrary incident field. The currents of the auxiliary sources are determined by enforcing the boundary condition of the electric field at discrete points on the physical surface of the dipole. After the currents of the fictitious sources are derived, any field-related quantity of interest, such as the current distribution, the far-field pattern, and the back-scattering cross section, are readily computable. The validity of the resultant solution is verified by checking the stability of the resultant current of the dipole for an increasing number of fictitious sources and comparing the results with available data. Both unloaded and loaded dipoles are considered, and several examples are presented for different dipole configurations and excitation fields.
