Zusammenfassung: | In a previous article (P. Brewin: Powder Metallurgy, 2002, 45, (1), 16-17) the EU New Chemicals Policy was introduced. With publication of draft legislation expected Spring 2003, more detail is provided about the policy and its likely effect on the powder metallurgy (PM) industry; some technical and commercial issues underlying its implementation are discussed. The New Chemicals Policy White Paper was published in February 2001. This proposed new legislation requires suppliers of 'chemicals' to demonstrate that products are safe to human health and to the environment. The definition of 'chemicals' includes both metals and alloys. |
