Quasi-binary metal-carbide eutectic of Cr–Ta–C system

An experimental investigation of the Cr–Ta–C alloys has shown that in the (Cr)+(TaC) two-phase region there are the fold with maximal solidus temperature and the saddle point Cr 82.5Ta 10C 7.5 on the liquidus surface, corresponding to the invariant equilibrium L e⇔(Cr)+(TaC) at ∼1695 °C. High temper...

Zusammenfassung:An experimental investigation of the Cr–Ta–C alloys has shown that in the (Cr)+(TaC) two-phase region there are the fold with maximal solidus temperature and the saddle point Cr 82.5Ta 10C 7.5 on the liquidus surface, corresponding to the invariant equilibrium L e⇔(Cr)+(TaC) at ∼1695 °C. High temperature Vickers hardness for the eutectic alloy was found to be on high level up to 1000 °C.
