Is a Prognostic Nomogram for Complete Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy for Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Useful?

Pseudomyxoma peritonei arising from appendiceal neoplasms is a dramatic manifestation of a rare disease process. Consequently, few centers have significant practical knowledge of this condition, its treatment, and outcome. The infrequency of the diagnosis also makes accurate prognostication difficult. Despite the rarity of the disease, there are several experienced centers that have put forth clear, prognostic criteria. Additionally, multi-institutional data sets are available. However, reliable tools for prognostication, such as a nomogram, have been lacking.
