Zusammenfassung: | The authors thank the discusser for his interest in their paper and for his comments. The discusser provided valuable information on the utilization of fly ash for soil stabilization and results of experimental investigations on the performance of retarders, including sodium hydroxide, when compacting Ottawa sand-fly ash mixtures. It should be pointed out that sodium hydroxide was used as accelerator and not as retarder in the authors' research. Bearing in mind the variability in chemical composition of fly ashes and the effect that several factors have on their behavior, the authors believe that comparable behavior should be expected only when similar materials are tested. |
