Quantization noise analysis of sign/logarithm data encoders when excited by speech or sinusoidal inputs

In many digital signal processing applications, the use of sign/logarithm data encoding is valuable. Simple formulas that predict usable dynamic range for systems employing sign/logarithm arithmetic when excited either by speech or sinusoidal inputs are derived.
