Zusammenfassung: | In this paper, we analyze the switching characteristics of a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) considering the gain and phase response of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) to control pulses. The saturation depth of the SOA depends on the energy of the control pulse when the width of the control pulse is smaller. However, when the control‐pulse width is increased to a certain extent, the saturation depth of the SOA reaches a steady value, which is governed by the power of the control pulse rather than its energy. To assure a perfect switching window of the TOAD, a large control pulse width should be avoided. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 24: 374–377, 2000. |
