Zusammenfassung:The luminescence properties of Sm super(2+) in Sr sub(2)B sub(5)O sub(9)R (R identical with Cl, Br) have been studied and compared with those in SrB sub(4)O sub(7). In the range from 80 to 300 K the emission of Sm super(2+) in Sr sub(2)B sub(5)O sub(9)R is predominantly due to the 4f super(5)5d arrow right 4f super(6) transition, while SrB sub(4)O sub(7):Sm super(2+) shows a very efficient emission of the 4f super(6) arrow right 4f super(6) type. Differences in the luminescence of Sm super(2+) in the strontium haloborates and tetraborate are discussed.
