Effect of confinements on phase behaviour of the mixture possessing smectic C sub(A) phase

We present experimental data on the phase behaviour of a mixture possessing SmC super(*) sub(A) phase, which show that the balance between ferroelectric and antiferroelectric states is very mobile and can be shifted in favour of ferroelectric phase by weak external forces due to aligning surfaces.
