DOUBLE-SCREW FEEDER FOR DOSING THE HUMECTANT CAKING COMPONENTS OF THE GLASS MIXTURE

Two modifications of double-screw feeders used for dosing the humectant caking components of a glass mixture are discussed: (a) with single-speed feed of material and (b) with "rough" and "fine" discharge of the weighed material. Intermeshing of agitators rotating in parallel prevents surface adhesion of the materials. A disc-like mixer with agitators which divides the feed bin into a "rough discharge chamber" and a "fine discharge" chamber, as well as the variable pitch of the screws, make it possible to implement a double-speed discharge mode with a prescribed weighing precision using a single-speed drive. 4 refs.
