Zusammenfassung: | High-resolution full volumetric x-ray, neutron, ultrasonic, and MRI inspection data is routinely available. It is essential that NDE professionals develop efficient methods to analyze and interpret as much of the data as possible as accurately as possible. This is prudent from a technical as well as a professional liability standpoint. 3-D visualization allows one to extract more information from the available data while preventing, or at least reducing, information overload. In addition to the obvious public relations and lay interest generated by exquisite true-to-life pictures, the 3-D presentation mode also has significant practical utility in terms of helping identify, measure, and interpret indications with greater accuracy. Our flexible, user-friendly software allows users to read datafiles from a variety of different sources, form an image or set of images, manipulate parameters, make measurements, etc. without having to painstakingly force the computer to go through each step. This frees the end user to concentrate on what one should do with the data, not how one is going to do it. We feel that the 3-d presentation, if done correctly, can provide a unique view of the available data which adds significant value in interpreting indications. [Materials: silicon, aluminum.] |
