Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this paper is to study the interface of SiCp/AZ80 composite and determine the phase that formed at the interface. The mechanism of these phases formation is also discussed. SiCp /matrix interface is smooth and in intimate contact. There is no evidence of chemical reaction, but Mg sub 17 Al sub 12 eutectic phase and Cu sub 5 Zn sub 8 phase are observed at the interface. Mg sub 17 Al sub 12 eutectic phase nucleates on the SiC particle; the orientation relationship between them is [1101]SiC(parallel to)[111]Mg sub 17 Al sub 12 , (0111)SiC(parallel to(110)Mg sub 17 Al sub 12 . Cu sub 5 Zn sub 8 phase nucleates on and grows from the SiC particle; the orientation relationship between them is [100]Cu sub 5 Zn sub 8 (parallel to)[2110]SiC, (001)Cu sub 5 Zn sub 8 (parallel to)(0001)SiC. |
