The Boundaries of Aviation Psychology, Human Factors, Aeronautical Decision Making, Situation Awareness, and Crew Resource Management

The author, concerned that the synonymous use of the terms Crew Resource Management (CRM) and 'human factors' and the use of 'human factors' to refer only to the human side of the operator-machine system, attempts here to provide boundaries for human factors, aeronautical decisionmaking expertise, and CRM. Attention is given to aviator experience, risk management, dynamic problem solving, and attention control in distinguishing between the discussed terms. (AIAA)
