Zusammenfassung:The theoretical background of a new digital technique for the evaluation of Barkhausen noise signals in residual stress measurements is presented. Different from conventional interpretations of rectified noise levels the new method is based on the probability of an event within a selected time interval. The much better experimental performance of this approach is supported by the given results of residual stress measurements. Material: Fe-3.5Si.
