Zusammenfassung:An attempt is made to develop a simple renormalization group model to simulate the polymer fracture process from the microscopic to the macroscopic scales. The rupture of polymers is viewed as a critical point phenomenon, and the existence of a critical submicrocrack concentration is demonstrated below which macroscopic rupture cannot occur. Some experimental aspects that support this approach are cited. (AIAA)
