Revised Pourbaix diagrams for chromium at 25-300\0\C
The revised Pourbaix diagrams for the corrosion of Cr in aqueous solutions at concentrations of 10\+-6\- and 10\+-8\- molal show that Cr(OH)\+v\2\-v\, Cr(OH)\+v\3\-v\, CrO\+v\2\-v\ and CrO\+v\3\-v\ are not thermodynamically stable at any temperature. Cr\+v\2\-v\O\+v\3\-v\ is the only oxide stable at...

Zusammenfassung: | The revised Pourbaix diagrams for the corrosion of Cr in aqueous solutions at concentrations of 10\+-6\- and 10\+-8\- molal show that Cr(OH)\+v\2\-v\, Cr(OH)\+v\3\-v\, CrO\+v\2\-v\ and CrO\+v\3\-v\ are not thermodynamically stable at any temperature. Cr\+v\2\-v\O\+v\3\-v\ is the only oxide stable at equilibrium in aqueous solutions, with the exception of 10\+-8\- molal and temperatures over 150\0\C where no solid Cr compound is stable. Aqueous complexes and predominance diagrams are also discussed. |
