Zusammenfassung:While computing systems are increasing their role in providing electronic geometry definition, analytical predictions, and manufacturing automation, hardware fabrication and testing continue to provide the proof of the various aircraft design concepts. This article covers many of the major hardware activities being conducted by the worldwide rotorcraft industry in order to provide more effective vehicles. The discussion includes the Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche program, the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey, the Boeing tandem rotor programs, the Boeing Helicopters Division R&D funding for flight control improvements and enhanced performance of tiltrotor aircraft, the Augusta A109 Power civil helicopter, the Augusta A119 Koala, the Augusta NH90, and several other national and European research projects. Finally, discussions are presented on the Sikorsky S-92 military and S-76C+ civil helicopters. (AIAA)
