Zusammenfassung:The effect of amplified spontaneous emission in Yb:YAG thin-rod active elements under end diode pumping was studied numerically and experimentally with allowance for its waveguide propagation. It was shown that the waveguide propagation increases the effect significantly and notably influences gain and stored energy in this geometry. The influence of active element parameters and boundary conditions is analyzed.
