The Tale of Two Pneumothoraces after Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction

Hu et al discuss the case study of a 61-year-old man with severe emphysema who underwent bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) of the right upper lobe using three endobronchial valves (HBVs). His pulmonary function test (PFT) before BILVR showed severe airflow obstruction, hyperinflation, and a...

Zusammenfassung:Hu et al discuss the case study of a 61-year-old man with severe emphysema who underwent bronchoscopic lung volume reduction (BLVR) of the right upper lobe using three endobronchial valves (HBVs). His pulmonary function test (PFT) before BILVR showed severe airflow obstruction, hyperinflation, and air trapping (forced expiratory volume at I second of 17% predicted, total lung capacity of 131% predicted, residual volume of 250% predicted. and diffusion capacity for carbon monoxide corrected for hemoglobin of 36% predicted).
