An investigation of gas response of α-Fe2O3(Sn)-based gas sensor

In contrast to sensors using Fe2(SO4)3.xH2O and SnCl4.5H2O as raw material, the effects of using Fe(NO3)3.9H2O and SnCl4.5H2O as raw material, to further improve CO sensitivity and selectivity against CH4, are investigated. Zusammenfassung:In contrast to sensors using Fe2(SO4)3.xH2O and SnCl4.5H2O as raw material, the effects of using Fe(NO3)3.9H2O and SnCl4.5H2O as raw material, to further improve CO sensitivity and selectivity against CH4, are investigated. The results show that the CO sensitivity of alpha-Fe2O3-based sensors against CH4 can be further lowered using Fe(NO3)3.9H2O of low S content as raw material with Sn doping through OH cluster formation on the surface. There is thus no need to invoke the formation of SO4(2-) ions in this improved performance. 11 refs.
