Zusammenfassung: | Most large construction projects are scheduled using a critical path method (CPM) or similar, in which the project duration is calculated assuming unlimited resources. However, with "ranked positional weight method" (RPWM) it is possible to determine a project duration based on limited provision of resources. Compares results obtained from RPWM with those from proprietary CPM software, and shows that RPWM to be much easier to apply than CPM. A relatively complex construction programme (the Kwai Chung Terminal, Hong Kong) is included as an example of the application of RPWM. (Original abstract - amended) |
