Zusammenfassung:Serrated polyps are pathological neoplastic lesions in the colon with subtle gross morphology leading to underreporting during colonoscopy. While detection rates are increasing in average‐risk adult screening colonoscopy, the rate of detection during pediatric colonoscopy is unknown. Serrated polyposis syndrome is characterized by the presence of multiple serrated polyps in the colon and an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer. Cancer prevention relies on early recognition, endoscopic clearance of all polyps > 5 mm, and continued interval surveillance or prophylactic colectomy. We report the diagnosis and management of serrated polyposis syndrome in a young adolescent patient and highlight the subtle features of serrated polyps that may go unrecognized leading to underreporting in childhood.
