Zusammenfassung: | As a candidate for bioabsorbable or transient bone implants, calcium polyphosphate (CPP) has advantages over that of bioabsorbable polymeric materials in that its chemistry is similar to natural bone and that it has higher stiffness. The tissue response and osteoconductivity of CPP as a bone graft material was investigated, and a comparison of new bone formation was made between CCP granules and demineralised freeze-dried bone (DFDB). CPP granules with chitosan or with Na2O were prepared and injected into dog tooth sockets. Filled and control mandibular and maxillary sites were histologically evaluated after 90 days implantation. Differences in new bone formation were statistically analysed. It was found that, regardless of whether chitosan or Na2O was added, CPP granules showed osteoconductivity and biocompatibility, but showed a very slow degradation rate. 8 refs. |
