Anionic polymerization of (meth)acrylic monomers: anionic polymerization of \+i\tert\-i\-butyl methacrylate in toluene

The anionic polymerization of tert-butyl methacrylate (tBMA) initiated by an organolithium compound in toluene at low temperature (-78C and 0C) was been revisited. Concludes that under these experimental conditions the lack of control of tBMA anionic polymerization in toluene is related to the pseudo termination of low molecular weight oligomers, which consume the major part of the initiator.
