Deciding about maternal pertussis vaccination: associations between intention, and needs and values in a vaccine-hesitant religious group

•Maternal pertussis vaccination (MPV) uptake is subjected to vaccine hesitancy.•56% of the women would be undecided about accepting if being offered the MPV.•Decision-making needs in the orientation stage are associated with intention.•Acceptors score high on Trust in the vaccine and vaccine-providing authorities.•Contemplating religious arguments is important to orthodox protestant women.
