Synthetic Granite for Precision Equipment: Conception, Analysis and Processing

Synthetic granite is nowadays a material commonly used in ultra precision engineering and it is also becoming an important alternative for structural material for small size equipment, whose precision, reliability, and cost are decisive factors for its performance. Application examples of synthetic granite in machine structures can be found in the literature and in many international manufacturer catalogues. The present work shows the main characteristics for obtaining synthetic granite structures using new conception techniques. (Author)
